If you have solar panels on your roof in the Metropolitan areas, it’s only a matter of time until you get pigeons moving in. Preventing this ahead of time can save you thousands of dollars and a lot of headaches.
At Pigeon Pros We See The Worst Pigeon Problems Under Solar Panels
Your solar panels before pigeon pros
The average pigeon will poop about 25lbs of Pigeon Guano per year. This adds up when you consider that many flocks of pigeons may exceed 20 birds. Doing the math 20 birds at 25 lbs of pigeon poop per year equals 500lbs of droppings annually. Also, consider that each pigeon nest is making 2 more flying pigeons every 3 months annually. Each nest is making 8 more pigeons per year. If your panels have 3 nests underneath that is 24 more pigeons annually. This imaginary flock of pigeons will continue indefinitely to make more pigeons. The amount of droppings on your roof can cause major damage including roof leaks, pest infestations, noise, smell, and disease. We recommend preventive measures for this reason.
Pigeons May Move to Your Unprotected Solar Panels
Pigeon proof solar panels have huge value for homeowners. Most people have no idea what damage and annoyance pigeons cause under their solar panels and on their rooftops. Many people are pigeon proofing their solar panels and causing large flocks of pigeons to move from one house to another. If your solar panels are not pigeon proofed, a huge flock of pigeons may move in overnight. The neighbors got sick of their pigeons and pigeon proofed their panels. These pigeons must go somewhere. You may be next.

Have you ever heard a pigeon calling out to another pigeon? Have you ever heard two pigeons making more pigeons? How would you know? Well, pigeons are famous for making a lot of racquet (noise). In fact, it’s a well known fact that pigeons will let you know if they are around. The more they are in an area such as your home or business, the more chance you already know what pigeon cooing sounds like.
If you don’t have a pigeon problem near by it may be very cute to hear the familiar “coo, coo” call of a pigeon. Imagine to yourself or maybe you already have experienced this, Imagine hearing this sound constantly on a daily basis. 5 in the morning, 6, 7, and in fact at almost all hours of the daylight and into the evening.
Pigeons will typically get started with cooing before sunrise. As the bird chatter begins with the first early morning dawn, so does the pigeon noise or cooing begin. The more comfortable a flock of pigeons is, the more you will hear them. Some people may find this sound relaxing and enjoyable, but when it is waking you up an hour before sunrise on the daily, it can quickly lose it’s charm.
If you are hearing pigeons cooing constantly, you can bet that your pigeons are very comfy in their home above yours. If you are tired of all this constant cooing, we are ready to help. For more information about cooing, read on. Click here for a free estimate
Why are pigeons cooing all the time?
Pigeons cooing as they take a bath together
Why exactly do pigeons coo? Pigeons coo for several reasons, mating, calling partners, communication with other pigeons in the area, talking about food or nesting areas, Happiness, and distress. As far as we know, Pigeons are discussing the daily news. Pigeons are very gregarious and it adds to the complexity of the pigeon problem and pain that it causes our customers.
A male pigeon will call out to attract their female partner. As pigeons mate for life, once a partner is found their will be constant communication in the form of cooing. It is possible our human talking sounds a lot the same to a pigeon, so who knows how complex their language is. Some websites claim that the tone and inflection changes in a pigeons voice depending on what is being discussed.

Here is a link to hear a few different calls and coo’s from pigeons across the country. These calls were recorded in California, Texas and Pennsylvania. We can assure you the calls sound the same here in the AZ. Listen to pigeon sounds
What can be done about the Pigeons cooing?
If you would like to get rid of your pigeon problem, there are a few very important things you will need to take away from the pigeons.
Take away their shelter
First and foremost, the pigeons live at your property because they have a safe and sheltered place to build their nest and/or nests. These areas must be blocked off. Doing this can be difficult or easy. Every nest area is different.
Take away their food
The pigeons may have been drawn to your property in the first place due to something they are eating on your property. Observation here can be your best friend. Pay close attention to what the pigeons are eating and if possible eliminate that from your space.
Take away their water
Next, especially here in Arizona where we live in a desert, is their water source on your property? You can bet that just like you, the pigeons need water to survive. It’s currently 115 outside here in Phoenix and the birds are drinking water constantly, just like you would if you were trying to survive in the desert. If you can eliminate the water source on your property, it may help curtail the pigeon problem.

Let’s talk about what Pigeon Removal Services means and what it can do for you. Simply put, this is the process of eliminating a pigeon problem from your property. Pigeons tend to take up residence on our homes, buildings, hospitals, restaurants, bridges, skyscrapers, abandoned buildings, strip malls, and more. The key ingredient here is the pigeons preference for manmade structures. Pigeons are what we call a commensal pest. A commensal pest lives in close proximity to humans. You won’t find pigeons living far away from humans. For thousands of years pigeons have been raised, eaten, and tended to by humans.
Pigeons are Homing Birds -What does that have to do with a pigeon removal services?
Pigeons rest on a ledge in phoenix metro az coutesy of Pigeonpros a local pigeon removal services company.
If a pigeon had a preference it would live on our homes with us. In ancient times there was a real need to return an important message home. As such people would set out on their journey’s far from home with a pigeon that was born and raised at home. When the time came to send a message home it was simply tied to the leg of the pigeon and released. The pigeon would invariably return home to roost with the important message. In today’s world it is important to understand the biology of pigeons. This biology and instinct is what makes eliminating your pigeon problem so devilishly difficult.
Pigeons do not Migrate
Simply put, a pigeon will live it’s entire life in one nest area. So as a flock of pigeons grows, it will only make your pigeon problem grow as well.
Why do we need a Pigeon Removal Service?
The fact that pigeons will never ever leave on their own brings us to the answer to this question. We need a pigeon removal service because the truth is that pigeon problems can be extremely difficult to eliminate. If it was and easy problem to solve the pigeons would leave easily and you would never need to hire a company like Pigeon Pros to get rid of your pigeons. So let’s dig into what types of Pigeon Removal Services are offered by companies like Pigeonpros.
Types of Pigeon Removal Services that are offered
There are many types of Pigeon Removal Services offered Let’s get into the nuts and bolts of what services are offered and how they can eliminate your pigeon problems. Not all pigeon control services or pigeon removal services will be needed at every property and it’s very important to use the correct services and or products in the correct places.
Pigeon droppings to the tune of 500 lbs come out from under these solar panels cleaned by pigeonpros in phoenix az
Almost every pigeon problem comes with a big mess. This pigeon mess will need to be removed from the property. In some instances a pigeon problem has grown from small problem with two nesting birds to a large problem with 20, 30, even hundreds of pigeons. It is a very common mistake to assume that the pigeons will go away eventually. The result is an amazing amount of pigeon poop, or pigeon droppings. These droppings will need to be physically removed. Pigeons poop at a rate of about 25 lbs of poop per year, per bird. So imagine 6 pigeons on your property would add up to 150lbs of pigeon poop annually.
So you can do the math and quickly see just how much pigeon poop a large flock of pigeons is creating on an annual basis. Add in the smell of the droppings, the feathers, and the constant noise, and you can see that this problem has to be dealt with and the pigeon clean up will always be the first step in the right direction.
Pressure Washing
It was a lot of work to clean up over 500lbs of droppings at this home in Phoenix AZ but Pigeonpros got it done.
After the pigeon mess or pigeon poop is cleaned up and physically removed, it’s time to pressure wash the area clean. The pigeon mess needs to be washed off with a high pressure system to scour the area clean of this mess. Pressure washing is a nice way to do that. Pressure washers use very little water compared to just using a low pressure hose from the closest hose bib. Having a professional pigeon removal service do your pressure washing is important. The high pressure from a pressure washer is capable of doing damage to your property and untrained work can result in damage to your building.
Sanitization or Sanitizing
Pigeon removal services often include sanitization of the pigeon affected areas. This can involve many different chemicals, treatments, sprays, etc. Pigeon droppings are full of diseases, bacteria, and pests. As such a deodorizer, an odor causing bacteria eliminator, and possibly other cleaners may be needed to neutralize the area. At Pigeon Pros we use a bio cleaner that does many things for us all at once. The bottom line is that this step is a very important part of your pigeon removal service.
Solar Panel Pest Abatement or Solar Panel Pigeon Abatement
Your solar panels before pigeon pros
Solar panels have quickly become established as a tried and true method of delivering electricity to our homes and businesses. They have just as quickly become a favorite pigeon home for your pigeons. Pigeons love solar panels. The shade under solar panels is very cool. The supports under solar panels makes for great nest spots. Pigeons can quickly build multiple nests under your solar panels. The droppings can quickly accumulate leading to all sorts of problems.
We install abatement around your solar panels and this is a perfect example of pigeon removal services to eliminate pigeon problems. Pigeons diminish the output of solar panels, and can cause roof leaks under your solar panels. Hiring a pigeon removal service to protect your panels is an absolute must for these reasons.

Installation of Pigeon Control or Pigeon Abatement
One of the many things a pigeon removal service will do for you is to install pigeon deterrents or bird deterrents to control or eliminate your pigeon problem. Here are some examples of the deterrents that can be installed to eliminate your pigeon problem.
Bird Spikes
Most people have heard of Bird Spikes, or Pigeon Spikes. Spikes can be great if used correctly to eliminate your pigeon problem. Spikes are great for ledges, beams, and other narrow perching areas that pigeons love. Spikes do have their limitations however and when installed in the wrong place, you will still have a pigeon problem, but with spikes underneath it. Hiring a professional here can save you money and headache. Spikes should be a tool in the bag of all pigeon removal service companies.
Pigeon Netting
Pigeon Netting is a great way to protect large areas from pigeons. Pigeon removal services often require netting to protect areas from pigeons. Netting is 100 percent exclusion from the area that is being treated. Pigeon netting is often the most affordable way to deal with huge pigeon problems. Areas such as docks, loading areas, commercial parking shades, walkways, outdoor eating areas, and other similar areas are places where pigeon netting makes sense. Example of a netting project
Pigeon Screening or Pigeon Mesh
Using a mesh, hardware cloth, screen etc. to block pigeons is a great way to eliminate a pigeon problem. All pigeon removal services employ this method to eliminate pigeon nesting and perching. The key here is to make it look good and functional. Any competent company will offer this service.
Bird Slide or Pigeon Slide
In some instances it may make sense to use a bird slide to prevent perching. This is a slippery surface installed at a steep angle to prevent pigeon access to a ledge or other surface. Your local pigeon removal service will know when it is appropriate to use this deterrent.
Electric Shock Strips
Just like people, pigeons do not enjoy getting shocked by a jolt of electricity. A few companies out there have invented shock strips to place along ledges and walls to shock the birds if they land. This is one way to prevent pigeons from landing on a structure. Your local pigeon removal service company will know when this deterrent is the right choice for you.
Birdwire or Pigeon Wire
Birdwire is a very cost effective way to reduce traffic on narrow ledges and other areas. Birdwire is meant for light bird pressure. Birdwire is a very good product when installed in the correct places. Birdwire works in two ways. First, the birds cannot see the wire and will actually bounce from it when trying to land. Secondly, Birdwire makes pigeons uncomfortable when they try to perch in the area and they just won’t stay. Birdwire is a product that will be frequently used by professional pigeon removal services.
Pigeon Trapping
There are times when all remedies have been exhausted and trapping of the pigeons becomes necessary. Trapping pigeons is a perfectly legal pigeon removal service. It may become the only remedy to completely remove a pigeon problem from your property. A professional pigeon removal service company will offer this service when needed. Pigeon removal services should handle all pigeon trapping humanely according to the laws of the area you live in.

Chances are if you’ve lived in Phoenix for more than a week, you’ve noticed all the pigeons flying around. Arizona, Phoenix in particular, has a perfect environment for pigeons, lots of flat surfaces for roosting, and (mostly) beautiful temperatures year round. Pigeons love it here, and where they love, they live.
What you might now know is how quickly a flock of pigeons can grow. Pigeons have a fairly short reproduction cycle. While it takes humans nine months to grow a baby, and another eighteen years for that human to be mature, in some cases closer to twenty five years. Pigeons lay eggs less than two weeks after mating, and those eggs hatch in less than three weeks. Each brood is one to three eggs, and after six months, each of those pigeons are mature enough to begin mating.
Not only are pigeons’ reproductive cycles barely a month long, they usually give birth to 5-7 broods a year. Seeing how pigeons are community birds and live together in large flocks. A small pigeon problem (20 birds) can grow to an infestation (more than 200) in a single year. If not handled, a minor pigeon problem can escalate to a full blown infestation in no time.
Why Pigeon Infestations are Such a Problem
Like the flying rats they are, pigeons aren’t picky about where they make their homes. As long as the location meets a few basic requirements; somewhat flat and protected from the elements, pigeons will roost. Most homes and businesses in the valley meet the requirements to become a perfect pigeon home, which is why pigeon infestations are so prevalent in the Greater Phoenix Area.
These homes, or roosts, start out as a simple cluster of sticks and debris. Pigeons use the same nest over and over, with each additional use adding droppings, feathers, tidbits of food, and even baby pigeons that have died. In fact, pigeon droppings help cement and insulate the nest, providing increased protection from the elements. Over time, these nests grow larger in size and create more than just an eyesore for businesses and homes, but they are a breeding ground for diseases and can even block up gutters and vents.
Get Rid of the Pigeon Infestation
Pigeons can be very challenging to get rid of for several reasons. They are resilient, intelligent, and have a strong sense of home. Efforts to scare away pigeons with reflective light, fake predator birds, and other DIY hacks can work, though the effects are usually temporary. The pigeons fly off to another perch for a little while, wait a bit, then come right back. The homing instinct makes it so pigeons don’t want to leave the place they’ve decided to set up residence.
Not only do pigeons’ instincts keep them coming back, pigeons are quickly able to realize that scare tactics are not real threats to their safety. When they make the realization, these efforts become completely ineffective.
The way to ensure pigeons leave for good is to make the place they live inaccessible to them, pigeon proof. If they can’t get there, they’ll move off and find another place to roost. Some of the most effective pigeons proofing methods include pigeon spikes, pigeon wire, and pigeon netting. Once the area has been cleaned of pigeon nests and droppings, and the product has been installed correctly, pigeons will have no choice but to relocate to a more accessible area.
At Pigeon Pros we understand pigeon roosting habits and how to best install permanent pigeon proofing. Before you pull out the credit card, or DIY belt, to take care of your pigeon infestation, contact us and we’ll come out and give you a free estimate to take care of your pigeon infestation.

The Golden Rule of Pigeon Control
What would we do if it was our house? How would we treat our own home? If this was our pigeon problem, how would we handle it? Would we install this deterrent on our own home?
We teach this approach at Pigeonpros. Would we like this done at our own home? Answering these questions helps us to solve your pigeon problem in an honest and aesthetic way.
The Platinum Rule of Pigeon Control
Everyone seems to know about the Golden rule. I only recently learned about the platinum rule. The Platinum rule says do unto others as they would like you to do unto them. For example, maybe you don’t take good care of your home like your neighbor does, so doing subpar work might be ok for you at your own home.
For your neighbor however, they like it done right. So…. at Pigeonpros, we believe in doing quality work and doing it the way you like because, ….that’s how you like it done. We aim to please and to solve your pigeon control problems.
Our mission is to be the absolute best pigeon control company in Arizona
We want our customers to be pigeon free. We want our customers to have the very best pigeon control available period. We provide top notch service to our customers and we’ve been doing that since 1999. If you want to be pigeon free, let’s get to it.
Guess who the #1 pest bird in the United States is? Yep, you guessed right Pigeons
Ok. So pigeons make a mess; what’s the big deal? The truth is, uncontrolled, unmanaged pigeon messes are a very big deal. Here’s why:
1. Pigeons are an invasive bird
Feral pigeons are an invasive species of bird. What is a feral bird? It’s a pet bird turned wild! Pigeons used to be very useful as messengers back in those castle rook days. Today they quickly adapt to almost all environments, especially the urban metropolis.
If you’ve set out a bird feeder to attract charming birds such as Robins or Sparrows to your yard, but pigeons show up in their place, they will immediately begin to consume every single speck of seed and scare off all the birds you had in mind when you put out your bird feeder. Pigeons may dominate the local ecosystem making a huge mess in the process.
Pigeons rest on a ledge in phoenix metro az coutesy of pigeonpros
2. Pigeons area a health risk
Pigeon poop or “pigeon droppings” have been known to carry many serious diseases such as histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, and psittacosis.
Here’s some quick hitting information about pigeons and their droppings: 100 pigeons can create 2500 pounds of droppings in one year. Each pigeon poops about 25 lbs per year. This said pigeon poop could carry as many as 60 different transmittable diseases or pathogens.
This means that any property owner, restaurant owner, grocery store, or other location that stores, prepares, or serves food has a particular responsibility to keep their area clear of pigeons, and their amazing amount of detritus. It is possible and we have witnessed Health inspectors shutting down a property when they find evidence that bird droppings are creating an unsanitary condition. They may even shut a business down because they suspect the presence of pigeons.
3. Pigeons damage your property
Next, consider the pigeon droppings effect on your roof and below. Pigeon droppings are corrosive and highly acidic. Droppings left alone and un-clean will eat into paint, metal, stone, wood, and even concrete. The caustic (think of the terminator melting in acid) nature of pigeon poop will cause permanent damage to any rooftop. Pigeon droppings have been known to permanently corrode expensive signage, completely wreck water fountains, and forever mark the surface of outdoor decorations such as statues and stone benches.
The never ending presence of pigeon poop on sidewalks, outdoor furniture, patios, balconies and other features of your commercial, retail, or residential property makes an ugly mess that ruins property values, and creates an image problem for your home or business.
Pigeons are prolific nest builders and leave an amazing amount of sticks, poop, and debris as they so consistently continue to build their nests. Pigeons will use all sorts of things to construct their homes, continually dropping bits and pieces as they are hard at work building those nests. Pigeons then use their sticky droppings like glue to hold and keep everything together.
Check out the amount of debris these pigeons have piled up in this pigeon nest.
Pigeon nests are durably constructed; sometimes they are not so easy to remove. The nests may block important drainage areas such as gutters or valleys, which may cause roof leaks as well, and will most likely permanently damage the underlayment of your roof.
4. Pigeons are expensive
Feral Pigeons are free. Go catch one and make it your pet. That won’t cost you a dollar, but the damage they do cause is extremely expensive. First, the roof leaks they cause are off the charts expensive to repair.
Second, A little known fact is that your homeowner and or building insurance will not cover a roof leak caused by birds like Pigeons. If the insurance finds out the birds caused the leak they will immediately cancel your claim. In their eyes you should have taken care of the birds before the flood.
Pigeon messes are not easy to clean up. Their droppings don’t easily wipe off; cleanup will require soaking, sometimes significant scrubbing, and most definitely a pressure washer. Significant buildup is will require a pro such as Pigeonpros, someone who knows how to do the job done effectively and safely.
It is not recommended for you to clean up a large pigeon mess on your own. Pigeon droppings are considered hazardous and if you do accidentally breath in the airborne feces, there is the potential for you to become very sick.
Prevention is the key
No matter how much you spend on pigeon control, it will always be less than the cost of neglecting a pigeon problem. If you’re ready to get a free quote from Pigeonpros click the button below.
Does it seem strange that we need so much bird control in Arizona? at first glance, it might. Taking a second look, Arizona has a wonderful climate for birds, especially pigeons. If you were a pigeon, why wouldn’t you live in Arizona?
The weather here in Arizona specifically the lower desert basins is perfect for pigeons. As a pigeon control expert, I’m constantly looking for pigeons as I travel the country to see where the pigeons live. I have noticed they definitely prefer the warmer climates over the colder ones.
When we hear the words bird control, what comes to mind? Of course my first thought is pigeon control and the need for it because that’s what we do at Pigeonpros.
There are other birds that need some controlling as well, such as Woodpeckers, Sparrows, Starlings, and Canadian Geese. These birds are often controlled much easier than pigeons and the market for companies to do this work is limited. We will focus here on the pigeon, which accounts for the majority of the money spent on bird control in Arizona by far.

To Migrate or not to migrate?
Have you ever wondered why some birds migrate and some birds don’t? There are many common types of birds that migrate including Pelicans and some hummingbirds.
Pigeons don’t migrate
Pigeons live in the same place when left alone for their entire lives. This is where the term homing comes from. A Pigeon will home for its entire life near or in the same nest it was born into when left alone.
The only thing that makes a pigeon leave its nest and go to a new nest is overcrowding. At least, in their natural surroundings. So when you start having problems with pigeons, you can plan on a battle because the pigeons don’t plan on leaving. No Migrating and no easy shooing away.
Food, shelter, and basic survival dictate why birds do what they do. Birds that don’t migrate such as pigeons can be a real problem. There is no respite because they are here to stay. So what can you do to gain some control of these pesky birds? Specifically, pigeons, there are lots of things you can do to eliminate the problem.
Bird Control That Works
Pigeons are difficult to control. Here is a list of things that do work with pigeons.
bird spikes
screening or mesh
netting
birdwire
electric shock
trapping
Bird Control That Doesn’t work
Pigeons especially can’t be controlled with the list below. Other birds may have marginal success with some of these things, but long term these things won’t work on pigeons and other birds.
Fake Owl
Cd’s
Shiny tape
Reflectors
Sound devices
sticky gel
In conclusion, if you need bird control, it’s a good idea to do your homework and probably trust a professional. If you’ve tried your hand at controlling your bird problem and failed, it may be time to call in a pro. Pigeons especially can be very frustrating to deal with. Other birds, besides the pigeon can be just as frustrating. At Pigeonpros, we understand your pain.
It’s another day. Once again, you woke up early. Really early! I mean way before you wanted to. You were wondering to yourself “Why do I still have pigeons?” Thanks to your friends upstairs, you know them, your pigeons. The cooing started an hour before your alarm went off. So why? Why do you have those pigeons? I mean, you’ve put an honest effort in. You started out with the standard fake owl. This worked for a little bit. You thought you had them, but…
Common Home Remedies For Pigeons That don’t work
Let’s see? first, it was the fake owl. Next, you bought an air soft gun and shot at them for a month straight. You even got really good and hit them with the plastic pellets on a regular basis, only to find out that air-soft pellets don’t kill pigeons, or scare them away for good. Next, you read about another idea, sound devices. You relented and spent a little more and got a higher quality sound device. That worked for a little bit. Back to the drawing board.
List of Deterrents That Don’t Work on Pigeons
Fake owl
air soft gun
sound/noise making devices
reflective tape
sticky bird gel
reflective whirlybird devices
Chicken wire (improperly installed)

Nails hammered into boards
Many other home made devices
Your next step…Hiring a Pro
At this point you’ve realized that this pigeon problem is way over your head. You do some research and guess what? They actually have people that handle this sort of thing. You reach out to a few companies and get some experts out to assess the problem. The solutions offered vary greatly but hold some common denominators. In the end you go with the cheaper version of a solution.
3 months Later… Still have a problem
a flock of pigeons sit together on a rooftop
After having a company clean and block off the pigeon nests, everything was great. For about a week. Then, the pigeons slowly moved back in. Now they are nesting right in front of the screen mesh the company installed and sitting in new places they never sat much before. At least you never noticed them there before like now. You’ve called the pest control company you’ve hired, but they won’t return your calls. Frustration is mounting.
Now what? You still have pigeons

Not just here in the Phoenix Metro area where we have millions of pigeons, but also across the World one of the many health risks that comes along with pigeon infestations is Histoplasmosis. The fungal spores that cause this infection are often found in pigeon droppings, and these spores can easily spread through the air, even entering the ventilation systems of our homes or commercial buildings. Histoplasmosis can put everyone inside a pigeon infested structure at risk. Histoplasmosis is one reason that you may not want to clean up those nasty pigeon droppings on your own. What is Histoplasmosis?
Histoplasmosis is an infection caused by the Histoplasma Capsulatum fungus. These spores are very light, so they may float easily through the air. Histoplasmosis spores are often reintroduced to the air over and over again when the surfaces on which they land are disturbed. This kind of fungus is very prevalent in pigeon droppings, which contain the right ingredients needed for these spores to survive, i.e. dampness and rich organic matter.
What are the symptoms of Histoplasmosis?
How would you know if you have been infected by Histoplasmosis? In the cases of a mild infection, there may not be any symptoms. In more severe cases, fever, headache, muscle aches, dry cough, and chest discomfort are common. In some cases, joint pain and rashes may also develop. If the infection does become chronic, weight loss can also occur. Severe Histoplasmosis cases will affect every organ in the body, from the skin to the liver, and are fatal if left untreated. This severe kind of infection is rare and occurs mostly in babies and people with compromised immune systems.
How can I avoid Histoplasmosis?
Histoplasmosis is not contagious and cannot be spread from person to person. It is only contracted when fungal spores are inhaled. If you have a pigeon infestation on your structure or property, instead of trying to clean the waste yourself, consider hiring a professional pigeon abatement company that knows how to safely remove the droppings and prevent the birds from returning such as Pigeonpros. At Pigeonpros we are often faced with the unique challenge of eliminating a pigeon problem, or coming up with a solution to a pigeon problem that both works and functions long-term, and doesn’t ruin the place from an aesthetic point of view, or in short words, doesn’t look ugly. We want you pigeon free and we want it to look good.
So for this Taco Bell with pigeons nesting exactly over the front entry we had to plan something that looked amazing and kept the pigeons from doing their dirty thing. “Living over the front door to the place.”
Pigeons were nesting here at this Taco Bell Pigeonpros used netting to eliminate this shaded area
The solution in this case was netting and man did it turn out awesome. Our technicians knew it was going to be a sensitive area. They made sure it wouldn’t be a stand out to the customers of the Taco Bell. The pigeons however disagreed. They are currently looking for a new place to live. I believe the Mcdonalds across the street is available?
Watch to see what this Taco Bell looked like before the Pigeonpros.
At Pigeonpros we understand exactly just how dirty pigeons can be. Pigeon droppings are full of bacteria and pigeons can carry up to 60 diseases or pathogens. It is very important to follow a good clean up procedure for the removal of nests and droppings.
Pigeon Clean Up Comes First
Pigeons are interesting nest builders. They will often search for nest building materials near the nest (your home or business) scavenging whatever they can find. Pigeons use their own poop, droppings, waste, excrement, you get the idea as glue or the mortar that holds the nest materials in place. This nest building is constant and droppings accumulate to the tune of 25 lbs per pigeon per year.
Solar panels need to be pigeon proofed to prevent nesting underneath. Note the amount of droppings associated with pigeons under these solar panels. Nasty!!
Small particles of this accumulation of pigeon droppings is hazardous to breathe in. This makes pigeon clean-up a potentially hazardous job to your health. Additionally, add to this the fact of all the potential disease and parasites pigeons may carry.
We take great care to clean up all solid pigeon waste and remove it completely so you won’t have to worry about coming in contact with any of the potential diseases or pathogens associated with pigeons. After removing all solid pigeon waste, we pressure wash the affected areas to remove any evidence that pigeons were there.
Professional residential and commercial pigeon cleanup and removal
Remove Pigeon nests and loose droppings
The first step in our residential or commercial pigeon control process is to bag and remove all the loose droppings. We want to eliminate as much solid waste as possible before we pressure wash the area clean.
Pressure wash all pigeon affected areas
After the initial cleanup step of bagging up nests and droppings it’s time to pressure wash. We use a 2600 psi pressure washer to clean the areas affected by pigeons on your property.
Bio-Cleaner
We treat areas of heavy pigeon dropping accumulations with a sanitizing bio-cleaner to eliminate harmful bacteria and odor causing bacteria. This makes your home safer for your family.
Conclusion – Pigeon Clean up and Nest Removal are essential.

As a business owner or manager, it can be really hard to know what to do when it comes to a pigeon problem. Pigeons can literally ruin business. Wilhelm Automotive, one of Pigeonpros recent customers was dealing with pigeons pooping down on their customers and their customer vehicles. It was a real problem for them.
Enter the Pigeonpros. We stepped in and formulated a custom plan to alleviate the problem. The pigeons simply had to be stopped. Our plan was simple: First, clean up the mess, which took a couple of days alone. Second block the pigeons from nesting in their favorite places, which we did as well. Lastly, trapping, which in this case was very necessary as the pigeons were here at Wilhelm Automotive in large numbers.
Pigeonpros is hard at work everyday eliminating pigeon problems for our customers

pigeons congregate on a rooftop. Sometimes pigeon trapping may be necessary.
At some point after eliminating all the best places for pigeons to nest and roost, pigeon trapping and removal may become necessary. At Pigeonpros we try really hard to avoid trapping the pigeons, however it becomes necessary when all other avenues are exhausted and the pigeons are still there.
Pigeons are Homing Birds
Pigeon trapping is necessary sometimes. Why? Pigeons are homing birds. What exactly does that mean? Homing birds. Pigeons are flocking birds, meaning they live in groups. These groups of pigeons are related, they are a family of pigeons living together. In a natural setting they will live their entire lives in and around the same nest which will produce pigeons consistently for as long as the nest is left alone. A pigeon wants to stay where it was born. This is called homing. All pigeons are homing birds.
Pigeons fly away from a commercial rooftop
Pigeons actually have the uncanny ability to find their way home from long distances. Pigeons have been known to find their way home from a 1000 miles away. This takes “homing” to a whole new level. The urge a pigeon has to stay where it was born is very strong.
Most of the time pigeons will relocate once the place they are nesting in and perching on is correctly deterred. In some cases however, the pigeons won’t go. This happens more in situations where the pigeons have been in a place for years and years, which means many, many generations of pigeons have been born onto the same structure.
Pigeon Trapping is Humane
Pigeon trapping is a humane and effective way to eliminate the pigeons that won’t leave a structure once all the deterrents have been installed. We always wait to see if trapping will be needed, because usually the pigeons will leave before trapping becomes necessary. Once we are sure that they won’t go, we proceed to trap. This involves baiting pigeons. We won’t get into exactly how Pigeonpros deploys and traps the pigeons because this is information we don’t share. Suffice to say, the pigeons have plenty of food and water and shade in the traps.
Pigeon Pest Control or Pigeon Exterminating
The word extermination can seem harsh. We respect life at Pigeonpros and we don’t harm pigeons maliciously. Pigeons are however a pest that multiply very rapidly and do need to be controlled in the urban environment. Trapping is the more humane way to exterminate pigeons over other methods such as poisoning.
Why we do pigeon trapping vs. pigeon poisoning
We believe that poison does not have a place in pigeon control for a few reasons. Firstly, you cannot control where a poisoned pigeon will die. If a pigeon does die in a neighbors yard or where a protected animal such as a Bald Eagle, or a Great Horned Owl may get it, there will be unfortunate consequences.
We prefer the safer and more precise method of trapping. The pigeons will be euthanized in a quick and humane way. We will also have a more certain count on the mortality of your flock of pigeons.
why trapping works combined with effective deterrents
Pigeon trapping works with effective and correctly installed deterrents. Why? The answer lies in the fact that your pigeon problem is not random birds landing on your property. The pigeons at your place, are the same ones everyday, which makes sense when you think about the homing nature of pigeons. So, when done correctly, trapping along with the correct deterrents will eliminate your pigeon problem for good.
